About Chatook

Chatook is a small site for topic chat rooms. You pick a room, say something, and see who answers. That is pretty much it.

How it started

We missed the old kind of chat. The kind where you did not need a profile photo or a follower count. You just showed up and talked.

Most apps now ask for a lot before you can say hello. Phone number. Real name. Public feed. We did not want that. So we built rooms where you can walk in without an account.

The first version was rough. A few rooms, a lot of late nights. People stuck around anyway, so we kept going.

What we try to do

Keep rooms topic based so you land with people who already care about the same thing. Music. Language practice. Late night talk. Whatever fits.

Stay anonymous by default. We do not need your life story to let you chat.

Deal with bad behavior when it shows up. Reports go to real people. We are not perfect at it, but we do read them.

Who runs it

A small group. Not a big company. We use the rooms ourselves when we get stuck on something or just want to talk after work.
